About this site...
My wife once stated that it was "all about me". My reply was simple, "What's the alternative?". So yes, this site is about me in regards to my thoughts and my beliefs. You'll find a mix of simplicity right there along side the complex. I'll also be the first to admit that you'll run across more than one contradiction and that's a good thing because it means I'm assessing and evolving but into what, who the hell knows.
What you'll find on this site are comments on things I'm interested in and those thoughts can run like a river at times covering topics from the political spectrum to quantum physics with dashes of the mysterious thrown in along the banks of religion.
Almost three years ago I shut my old site, rivercityreader,com, down for the simple reason it was taking far too much time, I had also taken a promotion, and more so, I was just tired of it. I was tired of the yelling out the dangers of the Iraq war and the policies of our current government. I was really tired of people yelling back.
I was far from the only one speaking out, and in fact, my voice was somewhat minor. Well it'd be nice to grow this site, that's not my expectation. Rather, my thought is to keep it simple. Write and post when I have time, usually weekends.
About myself...
If I'm being introduced to someone of importance, I tell them I'm an environmental specialist but all my friends and most of the public know I'm a janitor at our local High School. Awwww... remember your janitor, the guy who opened your locker when you couldn't, the person who let you in a classroom to get your homework, or the guy you had to spend the afternoon with sweeping floors after school because you got caught making a mess. That would be me!
Ok, so I'm a glorified janitor because I'm head of a department that has a dozen custodians give or take (there exists a personal joke there).
One of the things I try to pass along to my staff is the fact that we have the ability to choose how our character and our lives are defined. We can choose to be defined by others by what we do for a living or we can choose to be defined by who we are as an individual, by what we say, by what we do, by how we deal with problems and how we communicate with other people. If you were to pigeon hole me into a certain class and status, than it is you who needs to take a serious look in the mirror because you have just defined what you know, yourself.
Other then that, I'm at the lower end of the middle class, my wife is a LPN, I've got four kids and live in a fairly nice mid-class american neighborhood in a small town along side the mighty Mississippi. Favorite TV is Survivor and of course, Battlestar Galactica (By far the best plot and character driven show on these days). Try to watch the local and national news daily, enjoy "real time" on HBO. Websites on a daily basis, crooks and liars, drudge report, rense, whatreallyhappened,CNN (along with pages of bookmarks).
I think that about sums it up.
