A Case for the Reality of Intervention in Human Affairs by Extraterrestrials

Part One
First and foremost, realize this is a hard topic to write about due to the ridicule that accompanies anything that departs from our safe and comforting daily reality. The reasons for this ridicule is based on several human traits such as fear of the unknown, or threats against our belief systems, or an inability to explain phenomenon in scientific or understandable terms. Being human, we fear what we don’t understand, we’re resistant to change and if we can’t explain something, we ignore it, hoping it’ll go away. Being human, we all too often resort to ridicule as a form of punishment toward those who offer up such things the rest of us don’t really want to hear about. In a sense, ridicule is our modern equivalent to to the Salem witch hunt in that it’s a form of persecution.
Mainstream Television largely chooses to ignore the question of the presence of UFOs except as thirty second sound bites to be laughed at. The notable exception is Larry King who through the years has devoted several shows to the topic. Of course, there have been sporadic specials here and there, but for the most part, they have been subliminally biased, intended for general entertainment. Print media hasn’t been much better. While radio has several talk shows dealing with the paranormal, extraterrestrials and general high strangeness, the topics on any given night are so varied, interesting facts get lost in the fringe elements or worse, grouped together with them. It’s akin to ABC news going into a detailed account of our health system where the reporter has only two minutes of a thirty minute newscast.
Mainstream science scoffs at thought that there might be UFOs and the most evident arguments are used over and over again.
Where’s the physical proof?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
Why would they come here?
The travel time from their planet to earth is prohibitive.
There’s no conspiracy for a coverup by the government because they can’t hide anything.
If extraterrestrials are here, why don’t they just land?
Why are there no clear pictures?
Eyewitness reports are unreliable.
What people are seeing are black operations.
Where’s the physical proof?
The fact that most Scientists want actual wreckage of a crashed UFO and it’s crew either splayed on an autopsy table or available for interrogation is baffling to me. Science is advanced by the hypothetical. Science looked at our moon in the sky and wondered why only one side always faced us, and found the answer by a series of hypothetical questions. Not by taking the moon out of the night sky and playing with it in their laboratories. When one claims there is no actual wreckage of a UFO and therefore UFOs do not exist, what they are really saying, is they are not ready to apply one iota of critical thinking to any of the research or data at hand.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
As much as I respect Carl Sagan, he was wrong. What and who defines an extraordinary claim? Certainly, in it’s time, the claim the Earth was round was extraordinary as was the claim the Earth revolved around the sun. Why were these claims extraordinary? Because they went against common thought, what was believed to be common sense! And what is extraordinary proof? Was the math used to prove the Earth round or revolved around the sun, extraordinary? Perhaps for it’s time, yes, but readily accepted today. The simple point I’m trying to make is that by using a blanket statement such as this allows one to dismiss and ridicule without trying to delve into the facts and applying the scientific method. Any claim and counter claim needs to be addressed in a stringent and accountable method, to do otherwise is not science.
Why would they come here?
I believe this question when thrown out is the epitome of ridicule. Surely, it must be believed, that one common trait shared by any species in order to evolve or grow would be curiosity. I would like to believe that in order to grow and flourish as a society, a species needs to possess the ability to ask questions and search for answers. We evolved because we had the ability to ask about ourselves, those around us and the reality we live in. If an alien civilization had the ability to visit us, they would do so, as we would them.

By our our present technical abilities, yes. Yet even today, at this moment, concepts such as time travel and traveling at, or faster, than the speed of light is gaining wide acceptance as possible. Granted, to do so would require huge amounts of energy that we cannot now or in the near future even hope to produce. However, our civilization is reaching an end to our dependence on fossil fuels and is being forced to move in new and exciting directions. There is now a wakening global desire for energy alternatives and even NASA has a department looking into theoretical and practical means of propulsion. Imagine, when considering the exponential growth of computer and other technologies, where we will be at in 20 years, or a a hundred, five hundred or even thousand years once we dedicate ourselves to new sources of energy and propulsion systems.

This is a total falsehood and a blanket statement used to again ridicule and dismiss. Reality is that our Government along with most other governments are very good at keeping secrets and they are good at it because most people don’t even know to look. If you’re not aware a secret is being kept, how can you ask about it? Please don’t tell me that the NSA, FBI and CIA don’t have any secrets, when in truth, secrets are the reason for much of their existence. When it comes to conspiracy and the attempts to hide conspiracies, we convict people every day in our courts of conspiracy and those are the people who have been caught. Almost every crime has it’s roots in a conspiracy, and crime and wrong doing is not limited to the average citizen. Consider, where is the accountability, the police force for those involved in all our alphabet agencies. Consider too, the crime rate if the average citizen were able to live our lives without a police force.
If extraterrestrials are here, why don’t they just land?
Much of this question has more to do with their motivations. If UFOs exist and they are in our skies, it’s a valid question. The answer might be as simple as they don’t want to contaminate their observations of us or as complex as some social, moral or religious code. That they just don’t land on the lawn of the White House speaks to the fact that something is holding them back and whatever that fact is will work to our benefit or against us.
Why are there no clear pictures?
Granted, there is a wealth of images and in that wealth there are few concise images where one can cry out certain proof. Yet, while everyone has cell phones and video cameras, how many people would capture a clear defining image if a military jet flew a scant 100 feet over your head. Given the purported speeds and manuvering ability of UFOs, it’s not surprising there’s a lack of clear images. And don’t forget the resolution factors of a cell phone. There’re better but there’s a way to go with most of them. The fact remains though, there are a lot of interesting images that there are no answers for.
Eyewitness reports are unreliable.
Without doubt, eyewitness reports alone are unrealiable for a varity of reasons. First of all, there’s the hoax factor and the feild of ufology is littered with people seeking public and monetary attention. Second, a claim of a sighting without any supporting evidance, is just that, a general claim where we are asked to simply believe. That does not mean we do not listen or investigate for supporting evidance.
Regarding the two topics above, it needs to be noted that when it comes images and witness reports, a group of people can view the same image or witness the same event and come up with distinctly different interpertations. Indeed, a picture isn’t worth a thousand words, it’s worth a thousand different interpertations.
What people are seeing are black operations.
Another blanket explanation that no one can prove or disprove. How does anyone know if they are witnessing a secret test flight of a new stealth bomber unless they have access to top secret flight plans in which case they wouldn’t be talking about it.
In summary, it’s all pretty simple and boils down to this. It’s easy to come with a hundred differing excuses not to do something, especially something that doesn’t fit into your belief systems or something that will bring personal and professional scorn. The truth is, is that most of the evidance is ambigious and open to interpertation. The field of ufology is also littered with people out to make a quick buck with extravagant claims, misinformation abounds and confuses, and there are as many wild and unsubstaniated theories as there are stars in our sky, so why would anyone waste their time.
Because some thing is clearly going on.
